This Webinar will  focus on the  admissibility of Encrochat material in light of the Court of Appeal decision in R v Coggins. It will also assess what steps should be taken by defence lawyers in analysing material and preparing cases that rely significantly on the content of Encrochat data.

The event will be chaired by Tyrone Smith QC, who has consistently defended in substantial and high-profile criminal cases, including large scale drug conspiracies.

Sebastian Gardiner is a senior practitioner who specialises in drugs cases and is involved in many Encrochat cases. Peter Sommer is currently Professor of Digital Forensics at Birmingham City University and is an expert in surveillance and encryption technologies and advised the Joint Select Committee regarding the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.
