Murder Conviction Quashed by the Criminal Court of Appeal

Following a heavily contested appeal against conviction, a defendant’s conviction for murder has been quashed by the Criminal Court of Appeal, presided over by Fulford LJ. Jeremy Dein QC, instructed on appeal, was successful in arguing that the trial judge wrongly failed to leave the defence of loss of control to the jury. The appellant had been sentenced to a minimum term of 22 years' imprisonment following a six week trial at Reading Crown Court.
