Alex has a busy Crown Court practice defending people accused of drugs offences, serious violence, domestic abuse, dishonesty offences and weapons offences.

Alex acts as led junior or junior alone.

As junior alone, Alex regularly defends in cases involving allegations of serious violence as well as drugs offences. Alex has particular experience representing youths and vulnerable individuals with mental health difficulties.

Alex is often commended for her excellent client care.

Before starting her career at the Bar, Alex was a paralegal in the Serious and General Crime department of an eminent criminal defence firm. She has also worked as a mental health paralegal, advocating for the discharge of individuals detained under the Mental Health Act and as a Vocalise volunteer, where she taught prison inmates key debating skills. Alexandra has volunteered at the National Centre for Domestic Violence. Her LLM focused on an analysis of the Modern Slavery Act for which she obtained a Distinction grade.

R v KK: secured a referral order for a youth charged with s.18 wounding with intent.
R v SC: successfully persuaded the Crown to discontinue proceedings against a young woman charged with possession to supply Class A, on the basis that there was insufficient evidence of her knowledge or involvement.
R v MS: secured a suspended sentence for a defendant who pleaded guilty to being involved in conspiracy to supply class A (5 kilograms of heroin and crack cocaine). Served a detailed basis of plea advancing ‘lesser role’ which was accepted by the Crown. After detailed mitigation (written and oral) the Judge took an exceptional course and sentenced outside of the guidelines to impose a two-year suspended sentence. Co-defendants in the conspiracy were sentenced to 5.5 years imprisonment.
R v JO: secured an acquittal in a drink driving trial, advanced the defence of post-driving consumption.
R v KD: represented a defendant who was acquitted by a jury of two counts of non-dwelling burglary.
R v KK: vulnerable female acquitted by a jury of two counts of ABH against her partner.
R v ME: acquitted by a jury on possession of bladed article in public, defence of reasonable excuse was successfully advanced.
R v EM: acquitted of three counts of rape, led by James Gray.
R v IC: youth (14 years old) acquitted of fraud by a lay bench, intermediary assisted throughout the trial due to the defendant’s vulnerabilities and cognitive impairments.
DS: successfully opposed the imposition of a Stalking Protection Order, persuaded the District Judge that the necessity of the proposed Order was not made out.
R v SE: secured a community sentence for a youth (17 years old) charged with s.20 wounding and attempted s.18 GBH.
