25 Bedford Row Statement
25 Bedford Row condemns the horrific killing of George Floyd. We strongly support those seeking justice for him and for all those whose lives have been cut short as a result of systemic racism and police brutality. We recognise the pain being felt by Black communities after yet another senseless death, particularly during the current pandemic which is killing ethnic minorities at a higher rate than their white counterparts.
As a Chambers we stand against the enduring racism and inequality suffered by Black and minority communities everywhere in the world. We will continue to champion the values of equal treatment and justice for everyone. Our diversity as a society is our strength.
This is a time for introspection, reflecting on allyship and improving support within our organisation.
The right to peaceful protest is a fundamental human right enshrined by law. We are proud that people of every colour have come together both in America and here to express their abhorrence of racism and to call for justice. Members of 25 Bedford Row will continue to act as legal observers for #BLMUK protests and to provide support and free legal advice to #Black Lives Matter.
