Samantha Riggs secures not guilty verdict for company director

Samantha Riggs, instructed by Anna Willetts at Clyde & Co LLP, has secured a not guilty verdict for a company director indicted of knowingly causing the deposit of waste on land. The company director facilitated transportation of reductant and obsolete bathroom stock, raising interesting questions about whether the stock was waste, the waste producer and carrier’s duty of care and requirements under the Waste Regulations 2011 to comply with the waste hierarchy putting re-use and recycling above disposal. All very topical in the week that Burberry announces it policy to stop burning surplus stock.
