Duncan Jones successfully defends in G4S prosecution

The SFO has offered no evidence against three former G4S executives prosecuted for alleged fraud in relation to electronic monitoring contracts with the Ministry of Justice.

After G4S secured a favourable Deferred Prosecution Agreement in 2020, the subsequent SFO prosecution of individuals was beset by disclosure and resourcing problems. The SFO applied for lengthy adjournments of the trial to rectify issues but the decade-long investigation ended in collapse with the prosecution unable to complete its disclosure exercise in time for trial. Today the SFO withdrew a further application to adjourn and offered no evidence. All three defendants were acquitted.

Duncan Jones was instructed for the first defendant together with Michael Borrelli KC, Mark Aldred and Katherine Lloyd. He was instructed by Joanna Dimmock, Fred Kelly, Tom Hickey and a team at Paul Hastings LLP.
