Michael Neofytou leading Robert Shaw secure acquittal in Operation Uzana

The acquittal was secured following a successful submission of no case to answer. The trial, involving several defendants, followed a complex financial investigation into an 18 year fraud with the case becoming the longest running trial in the history of Liverpool Crown Court, exceeding a year. Accused of money laundering,  their client, a high-profile Conservative councillor of good character,  was severed after 137 days of trial 1, just prior to closing speeches. Significantly, they were able to secure consideration of the legal argument before the scheduled retrial had begun. Michael and Robert were instructed by Robert Mann of Draycott Browne Solicitors, Manchester. For media reports of the case, please click here and here.
