The Case for and Against Cloud Computing & Data Security

To be held at: 25 Bedford Row at 6pm

Speakers: Paul Keleher QC
Peter Bodley-Scott, Director, Node4

With the rapid migration away from traditional 'on-premise' IT server infrastructure towards data centre hosted cloud computing solutions, there are many factors that firms need to take into consideration before embarking on this journey. Clients who have instructed solicitors may already be utilising cloud computing technology and this may have data protection impact on how data is transferred between all parties. The obligations on firms to keep their clients data secure can be a minefield for the uninformed. The freedom that cloud computing brings also introduces security issues around end user devices and the potential for data to be accessed by governmental sources, recently brought to the fore by alleged US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden.   All of these key themes will be covered by this informative session which will be brought to life with the inclusion of case studies from recent projects.
