CaseLines - the Digital Court System

The DCS has been introduced in an ever increasing number of courts and will soon be the only system for the service of case papers. 25 Bedford Row has been involved in developing this system from its early imaginings as a twinkle in the eye of the CPS. We recognised that it it were designed from the start to meet the needs of defence lawyers it was more likely to be a benefit than a curse and we made ourselves available from the early days of 'blue-sky' thinking about what sort of system might work right through the design process, full-scale testing and providing feedback to make it more responsive to the needs of defence lawyers.
The purpose of this seminar will be to try to explain how the system works in its simplest form and to give you an insight into further development and how defence lawyers can enjoy - up to a point - the benefits of paperless working. We aim not to be prescriptive, but help you find your best way to work within the system and maximise its benefits for your own particular style of working.
