Gang Crime Symposium Reality and Resolution

Date: 10 September 2014
Start: 6pm - 8pm
Venue: Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL
2 CPD Hours

Several diverse projects and investigations have been implemented in recent years with the aim of gaining a wider insight into the type of offences classified under the definition of “gang crime”.
But what hides behind the circumstances of such offences? Is just a common background at the core of these anti-social behaviours? What are the competing perspectives as to the reality of gang crime and how are those issues to be resolved?

A panel with varied and extensive experience of confronting youth challenges and violence will debate the crucial issue of assessing the risks and ramifications of gang crime in 2014, with audience debate to follow.

Speakers: Arlette Piercy and Kathryn Arnot Drummond; C/Supt Dean Haydon - Head of Command at Trident Gang Crime Command; Carlene Firmin MBE - Head of MsUnderstood Partnership and major campaigner on gang violence affecting females in particular; Junior Smart St. Giles Trust: Rehabilitation of gang affiliates and members.
