Cases

Fraud and Financial Regulation

  • R v D - £80 m conspiracy to defraud and forge documents in relatino to a well know identity documentation web based organisation.
  • R v AJ - International share revenue. O2 defrauded of over £4.5 million.
  • R v SN - Graduate mortgage broker. Investigated and banned by the HBOS groups for numerous fraudulent applications.
  • R v Cornwell - Multi-handed conspiracy to defraud.
  • R v Holt - conspiracy to defraud and corruption at the DVLA
  • R -v- Parrott - MTIC fraud which ran for seven years, abuse hearing linked to the Bond House decision.
  • R v Fowler – Leading junior in conspiracy to defraud Department of Trade and Industry – stayed on abuse.
  • R -v- Lawrence (reported) - this case dealt with intrusive surveillance and collateral intrusion in a VAT fraud. Due to the extensive length of the fraud case was governed by the Police Act and RIPA.
  • R v York - Conspiracy to defraud the secretary of state for the Home Office.
  • R -v- Betts - VAT fraud. This was one of the first cases to be paper free, using both live note and electronic presentation.
  • R -v- Stapley (Bursar) - Fraud by the Head teacher (a nun) and the school bursar on the London Borough of Bromley. Over half a million pounds was stolen from the Roman Catholic School.
  • R v Alamu - internet fraud on eBay.

Proceeds of Crime Act

  • R -v- Kubilay - Confiscation proceedings following a nine month trial relating to the large scale importation of Class A drugs.
  • R v Puvanendran - brought in as junior to do confiscation proceedings, benefit and realisable assets over £6 million
  • R v Beller – solicitor charged with money laundering.

  • R v Papworth - Leading junior in drug importation.
  • R v Brown - Leading junior in conspiracy to rob
  • R –v- Heathorn – Conspiracy to supply Firearms, Heroine and Cocaine to Undercover officers over a 2 year period
  • R v Santharatnam – Conspiracy to Murder – Multi handed Tamil Murder.
  • R v Duffell - child murder
  • R v Bush – conspiracy to murder
  • R v Manton - armed robberies – case subject to reference by the Attorney General
  • R -v- Ross - Official Secrets Act case in which a journalist faced charges of corruption, having received confidential police documents relating to terrorism and celebrity crimes.
  • R -v- Nazham (reported) - authority dealing with indications prior to Goodyear from the Court of Appeal.
  • R -v- Huber - Fathers 4 Justice motorway demonstration on the Blackwall Tunnel.
