Briefing Arrangements and Fees

Chambers undertakes both privately funded and legally aided work. Briefs are accepted upon the business terms set out in Annexe G1 of the Code of Conduct for the Bar, a copy of which is available upon request.

Private fees can be discussed with the clerks and are agreed dependant on the circumstances of the case. Chambers is commited to remaining flexible and competitive and to creating fee structures suited to individual cases. Please contact the Senior Clerk Guy Williams if you wish to discuss any aspect of any fee structure.

In appropriate circumstances individual members of chambers are prepared to undertake work on a pro-bono basis.

Criminal Legal Aid Magistrates Court fees are set in advance of acceptance of instructions with consideration given to the latest imposed fee reductions. Details of rates can be discussed with the clerks.

Criminal Graduated Fees 2007. We accept instructions on the basis that the terms and provisions of the Bar Council’s Fee Payment Protocol apply. The Protocol provides, amongst other things, that in the event that counsel is required, subject to the professional client’s consent, to subcontract any of the advocacy work involved in the case to a substitute advocate(s), the fee or fees for work undertaken by any subcontracted advocate(s) will allocated in accordance with the Protocol. A copy of the protocol is available on the Bar Council website.
